Proclamation thanking Dr. Roberta Ward for her 25 years of dedicated service to the Community College of Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Dr. Roberta Ward has been a dedicated employee of the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) Boyce Campus as chair of the counseling department, and as professor and counselor; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Ward has more than 43 years of experience in higher education that includes, counseling, testing, curriculum development, personal development, coordinator of minority recruitment and retention, and coordinator of the pre-college summer program; Dr. Ward has served in academic and club advisement and chaired numerous CCAC committees; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Ward earned her doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh and continued post-doctoral study at Duquesne University; in addition, Dr. Ward obtained extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy and grief counseling from the New England Institute of Education; and
 
WHEREAS, from 1985 to 1989, Dr. Ward operated her own psychotherapy and consulting practice; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Ward has served as the Western Director of the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education, as an Executive Board member of Pittsburgh Family Development, as the historian and 1st Vice President for the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby commends Dr. Roberta Ward for her dedicated service to the Community College of Allegheny County and we wish her all the best upon the occasion of her retirement. Her impact on this community, and her commitment to Allegheny County and its citizens, serves as an inspiration to us all.
