Proclamation honoring Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his performance in Super Bowl XLIII.

WHEREAS, Ben Roethlisberger quarterbacked the Pittsburgh Steelers to an impressive come-back victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009 in Tampa Bay, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Roethlisberger played a near flawless game, completing 21 of 30 passing attempts for 256 yards and the game-winning touchdown, which was caught dramatically by Santonio Holmes in the back corner of the end zone with less than a minute left in regulation time; and
WHEREAS, the touchdown pass - thrown perfectly where only Holmes could catch it - was the result of a remarkable drive orchestrated by Roethlisberger; he lead the Steelers' offense 88 yards in nearly two minutes, completing five of seven passes for 84 yards and scrambling once for four yards; and
WHEREAS, Roethlisberger's resilient efforts throughout the season helped the team achieve its record-breaking sixth Super Bowl championship, which is also Big Ben's second Super Bowl win in his young five-year career;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, honors Big Ben Roethlisberger for his performance in Super Bowl XLIII. Furthermore, we wish Mr. Roethlisberger the best of luck in all his future endeavors, especially in his pursuit of another championship ring.
