Proclamation celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Circolo Italo-Americano Corenese (CIAC) organization.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Circolo Italo-Americano Corenese (CIAC) was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1958; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the organization was established to create a social arena for individuals from Coreno Ausonio, located in the Province of Frosinone, Italy, to celebrate their Italian heritage and culture with their fellow countrymen; and

 

WHEREAS, this year, CIAC will celebrate its 50th anniversary and to celebrate, will host a group of visiting paesani from Coreno Ausonio; and

 

WHEREAS, events will include a program list of summer activities, a mass for the Corenesi immigrants to Cleveland who have passed away, and a commemorative gala; and

 

WHEREAS, distinguished guests will include the Mayor of Coreno, Antonio Gargano, and his wife Luisa, as well as honorary guests, Zoron Reszka, the Mayor of Bloni, Poland, and his wife Barbara; and

 

WHEREAS, on July 29, 2008, the two mayors and their wives will visit Pittsburgh to spend time with friends, after which they will return to Cleveland;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council hereby welcomes Mayor Antonio Gargano and his wife Luisa and Mayor Zoron Reszka and his wife Barbara to Allegheny County.  Furthermore, we join with CIAC in celebrating its 50th anniversary and we wish you continued success in preserving the customs and the friendships among the Corenesi in the United States and Italy.
