Proclamation recognizing Mr. Frank Allison for his commitment to the anti-litter efforts throughout the Municipality of Penn Hills.

WHEREAS, a recent study found that more than 51 billion pieces of litter are released on American roadways each year, 91% of it less than 4 inches in size; and
WHEREAS, litter is not just an ugly or an aesthetic problem; it has serious environmental consequences that can persist for decades; and
WHEREAS, Penn Hills native, Mr. Frank Allison has dedicated countless hours to cleaning up litter and beautifying the Penn Hills community; and
WHEREAS, for many years, Mr. Allison has been an active member of Penn Hills Anti-Litter group; and
WHEREAS, since 2017, Penn Hills Anti-Litter group has organized dozens of litter pickup events across the municipality. The group has picked up about 1,000 bags of trash and more than 50 bags of recyclables in that span; and
WHEREAS, singlehandedly, Mr. Allison has picked up countless bags of litter and has conducted an extensive tree and debris cleanup at the scenic outlook on Allegheny River Boulevard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny County Council Member Nick Futules, do hereby recognize Mr. Frank Allison for his commitment to the anti-litter efforts throughout the Municipality of Penn Hills, and we commend him for all that he has done for the Penn Hills community.
