Proclamation recognizing the Mayor of the City of Duquesne, the Honorable Phillip T. Krivacek, for receiving the 2008-2009 Joseph A. James Memorial Excellence in Local Government Achievement Award.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Phillip T. Krivacek, Mayor of the City of Duquesne, has exhibited exemplary professionalism and outstanding government service throughout his career. For his endless contributions to our community, Mr. Krivacek has received the 2008-2009 Joseph A. James Memorial Excellence in Local Government Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, throughout his 10 years as Mayor, Mr. Krivacek has encouraged the growth of the Duquesne Mill Site within RIDC Park, facilitated the development of key elements within the city, and secured funding to build housing in the area, which has a great future because of his efforts; and
WHEREAS, prior to holding office, Mr. Krivacek served Duquesne as a School Board Director for six years and as a Councilman on City Council for seven years. He also serves as Second Vice President on his church's Council and is a member of the Duquesne-McKeesport Masonic Lodge #731; and
WHEREAS, residing in the City of Duquesne for a lifetime, Mr. Krivacek graduated from Duquesne High School and later served in the United States Army, earning the rank of Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Krivacek has worked selflessly his entire life, and we thank him for his incredible career of dedication, which has undoubtedly bettered our community;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby commends the Honorable Phillip T. Krivacek for being distinguished as one of our great public servants. Furthermore, we wish him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors.
