Proclamation congratulating Jan Glick upon the occasion of her retirement from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh.

     WHEREAS, Jan Glick, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh (BBBS), will retire on November 30, 2021; and

 

     WHEREAS, in 2007, Jan joined BBBS. During her 14 years as CEO, she has guided BBBS through extraordinary growth, and most recently through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic; and

 

     WHEREAS, under her leadership, BBBS has flourished from an initial period of financial hardship to one of the most financially stable BBBS chapters in the U.S.; and

 

     WHEREAS, thanks to Jan’s dedication to the non-profit, BBBS of Greater Pittsburgh was awarded “Agency of the Year” in 2012 and 2014; and

 

     WHEREAS, in 2018 under Jan’s leadership, BBBS matched more than 1,500 underserved children with supportive, one-to-one adult mentors. This record number has allowed more children than ever before in the community to be served. During her 14 years as CEO, 6,259 have been matched with adult mentors; and

 

     WHEREAS, Jan began her career as a teacher and has devoted almost 40 years working in the Pittsburgh non-profit community. She is a graduate of Duquesne University with a BS in Education and a MS in Guidance and Counseling.

 

     WHEREAS, Allegheny County is grateful for the service and dedication of Jan Glick and her determination to provide one-to-one relationships that change their lives of children for the better, forever;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny Council Member Tom Baker do hereby recognize and congratulate Jan Glick upon the occasion of her retirement from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, and we commend her for all that she has done for children across Allegheny County.
