Proclamation recognizing and honoring the West Mifflin Area High School "Titan Thunder" Marching Band for earning numerous awards and for their dedication to entertaining audiences in Allegheny County and throughout the nation.

Body
WHEREAS, the Titan Marching Band, from West Mifflin Area High School, Allegheny County, plays up-tempo music of all styles and from all eras, featuring a hybrid of big ten, high step style of marching with some modern styles introduced throughout; and

WHEREAS, under the direction of Mr. Devon Smeal, the Titan Band has won numerous awards for their consistent quality and dedication to entertaining nation-wide audiences; and

WHEREAS, led by Staff Member Craig Stanley, Lisa Jaskulski, Brandon Barnes, Jill Wrobleski, Melissa Dubyak, Julia Mutmansky, Bill Smith, Sara Ricciardi, and Don Watson, the “Royal Blue & Gold” Titan Band has developed the talent of 161 individuals, including 113 instrumentalists, 19 starlettes, 19 silks, 6 band fronts, and 4 drum majors; and

WHEREAS, Starlette Captain Bethany Dorney, Starlette co-captain Danielle White, Silk Captain Jordan Smith, Silk co-captain Kaleigh Funyak and Drum Majors Becky Ferchak, Sam McClain, Sammy Jo Popovich and DJ Ryan have worked tirelessly as a team to create a unique entertainment experience for their audiences; and

WHEREAS, in 2005, the Titan Band had the honor of marching in the New York City Nation's Veterans Day Parade, where they also performed on the USS Intrepid. In 2001, the Titan Band played for President George W. Bush at USS Irvin Works; and

WHEREAS, in 2005, they won the Best Music & General Effect Award, as well as First Place Silks and Second Place Drill Team, in the City of Pittsburgh's Veterans Day Parade. For three consecutive years (2002-2004) they were awarded “Band of the Year” by WPXI-TV Sports Anchor and Director John Fedko, and in 2002, they played during halftime for a Pittsburgh Steelers home game against the Minnesota Vikings; ...
