Proclamation recognizing and commending Mr. Guy Mattola upon being named “Man of the Year” by the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame.

WHEREAS, Guy A. Mattola, a native Pittsburgher and life-long resident of Allegheny County, has dedicated himself to serving his family and community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mattola has long been recognized as an outstanding businessman and public servant who has held a number of positions, including his current service as Treasurer of the Port Authority of Allegheny County's Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, his exceptional business skills and entrepreneurial talents are best illustrated by his success in growing Allegheny Business Machines (ABM) from a four person staff in 1981 to more than 400 professional employees today; and
WHEREAS, ABM/IKON is now the leading distributor of office equipment in Western Pennsylvania with annual sales revenues of approximately $68 million; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mattola's integrity, strong work ethic and numerous national sales awards have distinguished him as a local and national business leader; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mattola is also recognized by his peers as a person of generosity and community spirit, and is active in many business, social and community organizations including the Italian Heritage Society, the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and the Pittsburgh Columbus Day Parade Committee; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mattola is also an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Library, Pennsylvania, and is a strong supporter of the Allegheny Valley School and Pittsburgh Vision; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mattola was recently honored as Man of the Year by the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, an organization that understands the importance of family, culture, and values in molding today's youth into tomorrow's leaders;
