Proclamation recognizing Mr. Michael Stoehr for his excellence in education and rehabilitative services with the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have individuals, such as Mr. Michael Stoehr, that enrich the community through public service; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stoehr works as an Educational Consultant for the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN), an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education. PaTTAN supports the educational community by offering professional development that builds the capacity of local educational agencies to meet students' needs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stoehr works with teachers to help children with learning and emotional disabilities obtain employment or pursue post-secondary education; and
WHEREAS, he is the organizer of the annual “Transition Day Conference” and in 2006, he organized the fifth event at the Penn State Main Campus where teachers, administrators, agency leaders, executives and other parties gathered to discuss best practices. The conference attracted nearly 800 people and this year's speaker was John H. Hager, Assistant Secretary, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services at the U.S. Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stoehr along with PaTTAN works in conjunction with the City-County Task Force on Disabilities, Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Project PA, Pittsburgh Start on Success, Project MOVE (Mentoring Opportunities for Vocation and Education), just to name a few;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and honor Mr. Michael Stoehr for his excellence in public service and his significant contributions to the disability community. This Council is grateful for your commitment and dedication which serve as an inspiration to us all.
