Proclamation congratulating Harry and Raye Coffey on their 50th wedding anniversary and declaring January 15, 2006 as Harry and Raye Coffey Day in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Harry Coffey and Raye Friedken were both born in the City of Pittsburgh, County of Allegheny. Harry graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School, while Raye graduated from Schenley High School and they have remained life-long Allegheny County residents; and
WHEREAS, Harry Coffey and Raye Friedken wed on January 15, 1956 in the City of Pittsburgh and became Harry and Raye Coffey; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Coffey lived in Stanton Heights with their daughter, Ivy and son, Mark, until they had their third child, Hal, moving to Monroeville in 1981, raising all three of their children in Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, Harry was the principal owner of Empire Furniture Company in Bloomfield for many decades, and he has been manager of the Monroeville Quality Furniture, a Thomasville Home Gallery, for more than 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Raye has been a cooking demonstrator and “Jane-of-all-trades” at the Monroeville location of McGinnis Sisters, for more than 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Coffey have welcomed daughter-in-law Mindy Coffey, grandchildren Oliver and Carlin Coffey and daughter-in-law Erica Baum Coffey over the years; and
WHEREAS, the friends and family of Harry and Raye Coffey will gather on January 15, 2006 at Lidia's Restaurant in the Strip District to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council congratulates Mr. and Mrs. Coffey on their 50th anniversary and declares Sunday, January 15, 2006 to be “Harry and Raye Coffey Day” in Allegheny County.
