An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the purchase of real property needed to extend Harrison Hills Park and for the purpose of eventually connecting the Butler Freeport Trail and Baker Trail to Harrison Hills Park and the Rachel Carson Trail.

Whereas, the County of Allegheny, on behalf of the Department of Parks, has accepted a donation from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (“CFA”) of $200,000 with a County match of $40,000; and
Whereas, the purpose of obtaining the donation is for the County, on behalf of the Department of Parks, to use the money to acquire 19.7 acres of land in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, and Buffalo Township, Butler County, needed to extend Harrison Hills Parks and to connect the Butler Freeport Trail and Baker Trail to Harrison Hills Park and the Rachel Carson Trail; and
Whereas, Section 5-701.02C of the Allegheny County Administrative Code provides that the approval of County Council is needed in order for the County to acquire real property.
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:
SECTION 1. Incorporation of the Preamble.
The provisions set forth in the Preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.
SECTION 2. Authorization to acquire Real Property.
County Council does hereby authorize the expenditure of the CFA grant money referenced in the preamble above, along with the County match also referenced in the preamble, for the acquisition of 19.7 acres of land in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, and Buffalo Township, Butler County. There are four separate parcels to be purchased, with the Parcel Numbers: 2396-N-205, 2396-N-45, 2396-N-335 and 40-S4-A20.
