Proclamation congratulating the Steel Valley Authority on the occasion of their 20th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, the Steel Valley Authority is a regional development authority that has received national and international acclaim as one of the most innovative economic revitalization initiatives in the U.S. Organized as an inter-municipal development agency, the SVA represents the City of Pittsburgh and 11 municipalities in the Mon Valley; and
WHEREAS, the Authority has, since its founding in 1986, focused exclusively on its core mission, and has developed nationally-recognized expertise in the core areas of jobs, community and capital; and
WHEREAS, the SVA intervenes with companies-in-crisis on workplace retention, growth, and buyout strategies; and
WHEREAS, over the past 20 years, the SVA has earned a reputation of significant accomplishments in economic revitalization and pioneered the Strategic Early Warning Network Pennsylvania, gaining incomparable expertise in business and manufacturing investment, retention and development; and
WHEREAS, September 11th, 2006 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Steel Valley Authority and the community will gather together at Station Square to celebrate this momentous occasion;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and commend the Steel Valley Authority for its significant contributions to the City of Pittsburgh, the Mon Valley and our community and joins in celebrating its 20th Anniversary.
