Proclamation recognizing the week of May 3-9, 2009 as Correctional Officers Week in Allegheny County.
Body
WHEREAS, Allegheny County's correctional officers work tirelessly to tackle the challenges presented to them daily as they manage the growth of inmate population; and
WHEREAS, these officers continually display unparalleled leadership in our correctional facilities, setting examples for other workers and even inmates to follow; and
WHEREAS, the commitment to their profession and to sustaining a safe workplace on a daily basis is to be commended; the officers of Allegheny County strive to contribute quality effort routinely; and
WHEREAS, our County correctional officers make a difference in somebody's life everyday; they are active in improving the quality of our communities, restoring justice to our neighborhoods and protecting those who cannot protect themselves; and
WHEREAS, we commend Allegheny County's correctional officers for all of their tireless efforts to serve and protect our home;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby recognizes - as distinguished by the federal government - the week of May 3rd to May 9th 2009 as National Correctional Officers Week. During this time, we commend our correctional officers for their efforts. We are proud of those who protect us and hope they continue their great efforts they give regularly to our County.
