This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Rockwell’s Red Lion restaurant in Elizabeth Borough, PA upon the momentous occasion of their 40th anniversary. After working numerous years in the floral business, Orrie and Norma Rockwell decided to make a career change. In 1979, Orrie and Norma bought the Cochenour & Miller Drug store building that recently was put up for sale. After almost a year of construction and renovation, the Rockwell family opened their restaurant, Rockwell’s Red Lion on May 14, 1980. Sadly, Norma unexpectedly passed away during the construction period and never got to see the restaurant open. In 1988, Orrie’s son, Orrie III graduated from culinary school and he utilized his culinary expertise to upscale Rockwell’s Red Lion from a family style restaurant to the destination it is today. This Council recognizes Rockwell’s Red Lion restaurant’s 40th anniversary and we thank them for their passion and dedication to providing delicious meals to the residents of Allegheny County.
