Proclamation declaring May 7th, 2020 as Anchored in Hope Day in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, mental health needs are increasing in Allegheny County due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects; and
WHEREAS, the problems of loneliness, isolation, worry, stress, anxiety, and depression are on the rise among local youth, adults, and older adults; and
WHEREAS, many community members and families do not have adequate insurance or financial resources to afford consultation and treatment with licensed and experienced counselors to address these needs; and
WHEREAS, Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry is a 53-year-old nonprofit committed to providing professional counseling and support services to Allegheny County residents of all faiths and backgrounds, regardless of insurance or ability to pay; and
WHEREAS, the Anchored in Hope Virtual Giving Event on Thursday, May 7th from 5 AM until Midnight will feature 19 hours of special guest messages and performances to raise awareness and funds so the uninsured, underinsured, and under-resourced can access and afford the help they need and deserve to find hope and healing throughout this unprecedented time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Tom Baker, do hereby proclaim May 7th, 2020 as Anchored in Hope Day in Allegheny County.
