Proclamation celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Blawnox Athletic Association.

WHEREAS, the Blawnox Athletic Association is celebrating its 75th year anniversary on May 15, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the organization, which is known to many in the area as the A-Club, was founded in 1934 by a group of steel workers from the Blaw-Knox Company; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the A-Club has had thousands of members who have joined the association because of the great sense of community it offers; and
WHEREAS, today, the club has over 400 members, who maintain the association's presence in the community by continuing its historic tradition of sponsoring local community sports teams; and
WHEREAS, the A-Club's tight-knit members support the neighborhood by providing a reliable and friendly setting for people to enjoy themselves;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of the County, hereby honors the Blawnox Athletic Association for its 75th year of existence. Furthermore, we hope the A-Club continues to remain prominent in the community for many years to come.
