An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing support to assist the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation (DCNR), the City of Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to work together on “TreeVitalize”, an aggressive multi-year partnership launched by Governor Edward G. Rendell to restore Tree Cover in Allegheny County.

Whereas, the State (DCNR) is leading the regional partnership to restore tree cover in cities and towns in Allegheny County; and
Whereas, TreeVitalize will provide our local governments the financial and technical tools to encourage the protection of trees, as well as train volunteers in proper tree care techniques. TreeVitalize is a partnership that will require the support and involvement of local and county government, businesses, organizations and citizens.
Whereas, trees are to be planted in County Parks, City Parks and City street landscapes.
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Incorporation of the Preamble.
The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.
Section 2. Authorization to assist the PA Department of Conservation with multi-
year partnership.
County Council does hereby authorize the Director of Allegheny County Parks to assist DCNR, accept trees and restore tree cover within the County Parks.
Section 3. Severability. If any provision of this Ordinance shall be determined to be unlawful, invalid, void or unenforceable, then that provision shall be considered severable from the remaining provisions of this Ordinance which shall be in full force and effect.
Section 4. Repealer. Any Resolution or Ordinance or part thereof conflicting with the provisions of this Ordinance is hereby repealed so far as the same affects this Ordinance.
