WHEREAS, local businesses have been adjusting their operations to implement environmentally friendly practices into their daily routines to reduce the impact they have on our natural surroundings; and
WHEREAS, Prosperity Cleaners in Brentwood has applied elements into their operations that support Allegheny County's efforts to quell environmental impact; and
WHEREAS, not a single hazardous chemical is utilized in the business's dry cleaning or wet cleaning; the business began eliminating these types of chemicals from their repertoire several years ago, and the result is a naturally gentle garment that treats the skin with care; and
WHEREAS, Prosperity Cleaners' pre-spotting chemicals fall well below the Environmental Protection Agency's guidelines for hazardous chemicals; the business even uses biodegradable wet-cleaning agents and encourages customers to return metal hangers and poly so that they may be reused and recycled properly instead of contributing to waste; and
WHEREAS, for their unparalleled commitment to bettering our environment, Prosperity Cleaners serves as a model for change;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of the County, hereby commends Prosperity Cleaners for implementing environmentally friendly business practices into their everyday operations. The business is a true example of how local operations may change to help the environment while continuing to remain a strong business presence.
