Proclamation recognizing and honoring Mr. Robert P. Imperata upon the momentous occasion of his retirement as Vice-President of VisitPittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Mr. Robert P. Imperata, Executive Vice-President of VisitPittsburgh, began his career as the Director of Convention Marketing at what was then called the Greater Pittsburgh Convention & Visitors Bureau on April 1, 1968; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Imperata remained with the organization through nearly 40 years of expansion (from 5 to 55 employees); change (through three different organization names and four office locations); and financial growth (from a budget of under $300,000 to one of more than $10 million); and
WHEREAS, VisitPittsburgh estimates that during Mr. Imperata's tenure, the organization's cumulative economic impact on the Pittsburgh region is in the multi-billion dollar range; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Imperata has been active with several professional organizations and has served on numerous boards, including the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association, Destination Marketing Association International and the Pittsburgh Chapter of Hotel Sales Marketing Association; and
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Welcome Center at the Zelienople service plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been renamed the “Robert P. Imperata Welcome Center” in honor of Bob who will retire in September after a 39-year career at VisitPittsburgh;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes and commends Mr. Robert P. Imperata for his unparalleled dedication and commitment in serving Allegheny County and our region as a whole. This Council wishes him all the best on his well-deserved retirement as Vice-President of VisitPittsburgh, and join his family and friends in celebrating this momentous occasion with him.
