Proclamation congratulating Rob Cochran for earning the Amen Corner's 2008 Fred E. Obley Award for Business Leadership and Excellence.

WHEREAS, on November 19, 2008, Rob Cochran, Chairman, President and CEO of #1 Cochran, Inc., will be honored with the Amen Corner's Fred E. Obley Award for Business Leadership and Excellence; and
WHEREAS, since 1992, Mr. Cochran has served as the President and CEO of #1 Cochran, a family-owned business whose success has multiplied under his leadership; and
WHEREAS, under Mr. Cochran's guidance, the #1 Cochran Automotive Chain has expanded to include two locations which represent nearly a dozen franchises and bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each year; and
WHEREAS, built in recent years, the #1 Cochran Mega Center has become the largest General Motors complex on the East Coast, a truly remarkable accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, with a focus on customer service and appreciation, #1 Cochran regularly receives recognition as “Best Car Dealership” by local newspaper polls, “Distinguished Dealer” awards from car manufacturers, and is widely recognized as one of the top privately held businesses in the Western Pennsylvania region; and
WHEREAS, with this award, Mr. Cochran joins the ranks of many local prolific business leaders, which have most recently included Kenneth Melani, M.D., President and CEO of Highmark, Inc.; Howard Hanna, III, President and CEO of Howard Hanna Holdings, Inc.; Louis Astorino, Chairman of Astorino,; Ralph Papa, President of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania; and Joseph Massaro, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Massaro Corporation;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby congratulates Rob Cochran for earning the Amen Corner's Fred E. Obley Award for Business Leadership and Excellence. We commend you on your commitment to success, which serves as an inspiration to the members of this Council and to all the residents of Allegheny County.
