A Resolution of the Council of the County of Allegheny expressing support of a Strategic Development Area in the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Whereas, the County of Allegheny joins with the Municipality of Monroeville and the Gateway School District to support the pursuit of a Pennsylvania Strategic Development Area in the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County if so designated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
Whereas, the development of this Pennsylvania Strategic Development Area (the “SDA”) will support the growth of Westinghouse Electric Corporation's (the “Corporation) headquarters in Allegheny County (the “County”); and
Whereas, the Corporation is contemplating the construction of a new headquarters building (the “Project”) adjacent to its current headquarters situated within the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Monroeville (the “Municipality”); and
Whereas, this Project directly benefits the County with the creation of up to 2,000 new jobs; and
Whereas, the County fully supports the implementation of the proposed SDA by cooperating and participating with the local taxing bodies, namely the Municipality, and Gateway School District (the “School District”) to create the necessary ordinances and resolutions to provide the tax exemptions, deductions, abatements, and credits required by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania legislation known as the Strategic Development Areas Act (the “Act”).
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby resolves as follows:
Section 1. County's Representative.
The Director of Economic Development or his designee is hereby designated as the County's representative to work with the Municipality of Monroeville, the Gateway School District, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and any other parties in preparing any necessary ordinances or resolutions.
