Proclamation congratulating the American Legion Springdale Post 764 for earning four awards from the Pennsylvania American Legion and the prestigious National Post Excellence Award.

WHEREAS, in 2015, The American Legion Springdale Post 764, located in the Borough of Springdale, County of Allegheny, Pennsylvania, earned four state awards and the prestigious National Post Excellence Award, an award that no other post in Pennsylvania, thus far, has ever earned; and
WHEREAS, Post 764 won first place for the Pennsylvania American Legion Press Association (PALPA) Award; Americanism Award; Children & Youth Award; and the Norman L. Streicher Award (Hospital Entertainment); and
WHEREAS, Post 764 won the prestigious National Post Excellence Award for achievement in four areas: membership, youth activities, community service and support to active duty troops or veterans; and
WHEREAS, Post 764 is active in the community and among its programs: Bicycle Safety Day; monthly ice cream/entertainment socials at the VA Hospital in Aspinwall; VA Hospital fundraisers; River Sweep; highway cleanups; Halloween favors for local elementary schools; VA Christmas stockings; participation in the Springdale fireman’s parade; flag retirement ceremonies; placing flags on veterans graves, and more;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the members of The American Legion Springdale Post 764 for earning four awards from the Pennsylvania American Legion and the National Post Excellence Award, and we thank you for your dedication to serving the community and enhancing the quality of life in Allegheny County.
