Motion of the Council of Allegheny County authorizing the Budget & Finance Committee to conduct public hearings, pursuant to § 801.05 of the Administrative Code on Wednesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 29, beginning each day at 4 p.m. in the Gold Room of the Allegheny County Courthouse. Budget & Finance Chair William Russell Robinson will serve as the presiding officer.

One purpose of these hearings is to allow the public opportunity to comment on the proposed budgets for the 2009 calendar year before passage. Public testimony is scheduled from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. each day. Individuals wishing to speak must register in advance in accordance with the rules governing public comment at Council meetings and are also asked to provide twenty copies of their testimony. Written testimony will be accepted through Friday, November 6.
The other purpose of these hearings is to have departments and agencies funded by the County appear before the Budget & Finance Committee to present their requests and answer questions posed by the members. The final hearing schedule shall be provided to all participants in advance of the hearings and shall also be publicly advertised.
The Members of the Budget & Finance Committee that are committed to attend the hearing include: Council Member William Russell Robinson, Chair; Council Member Jim Burn, Council Member Joan Cleary, Council Member John DeFazio, Council Member Matt Drozd, Council Member Michael J. Finnerty, Council Member Vince Gastgeb, Council Member Amanda Green, Council Member Bob Macey, and Council Member Chuck McCullough.
Upon passage of this motion, the President is asked to take appropriate steps to provide for security for the public hearings and to provide for transcription of testimony given.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS MOVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY,
