Proclamation thanking Ms. Joyce Rothermel for her 30 years of dedicated service as co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; individuals such as Ms. Joyce Rothermel who has placed her stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and strong leader; and
WHEREAS, after 30 years of visionary leadership, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Ms. Joyce Rothermel is retiring; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rothermel's impact in the fight to end hunger extends throughout southwestern Pennsylvania and across the nation; and
WHEREAS, to honor Ms. Rothermel and guarantee the continuation and growth of her pioneering work, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank has created the Joyce Rothermel Legacy Fund, in which donations to the fund will help feed families, children, and seniors for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is also dedicating and renaming its Community Room in Ms. Rothermel's honor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby thank Ms. Joyce Rothermel for her 30 years of dedicated service to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Ms. Rothermel is a shining example of community spirit whose many contributions are worthy of deep gratitude and respect. She serves as an inspiration to the residents of Allegheny County, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States of America.
