Proclamation recognizing the Visiting Nurse Foundation as they enter a new era with the unveiling of a new name and logo on September 28, 2006 at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Museum in Oakland

WHEREAS, the Visiting Nurse Foundation leverages the spirit of service that sparked the visiting nurse movement more than 80 years ago to serve the unmet community health needs of residents of Allegheny and surrounding counties; and
WHEREAS, the vision of the Visiting Nurse Foundation (VNF) is to target the healthcare needs of senior and at-risk populations through community-based programs, and their mission is to provide accessible and affordable community-based services to an underserved population and their caregivers through the Fight the Flu Campaign and Stroke Survivor Connection Program; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation's services promote community health, access to community resources and sustained independence and community participation for people with medical conditions, relying on volunteers from the healthcare field, area corporations and the community at-large to make its programs possible; and
WHEREAS, on September 28th, 2006, the Visiting Nurse Foundation will unveil their new name, Health Hope Network, which will better reflect who they are and what they do today;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize the heritage and accomplishments of the Visiting Nurse Foundation and celebrates the unveiling of their new name, Health Hope Network. We commend your contributions and ongoing efforts aimed at improving the healthcare of the residents of Allegheny County, serving as an inspiration to us all.
