WHEREAS, long and distinguished service throughout one's life deserves the accolades of our citizenry; especially when one devotes so much time to enhancing the quality of life in her community as Ms. Miriam Manion has; placing her stamp of character and hard work throughout the community as a public servant and community leader; and

WHEREAS, Miriam has spent sixteen years assisting the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, currently serving as the Human Resources Director, a role in which she has made a tremendous impact on the lives of so many during her tenure; and

WHEREAS, as Associate Director from 1991-2002, Miriam was largely responsible for working with the Food Bank's team of managers to build an organization of management excellence; the Food Bank continues to develop on this strong foundation of excellence in management, a tribute to her leadership and talent; and

WHEREAS, Miriam's most highly acclaimed achievement was her oversight and coordination of the current Food Bank facility in Duquesne; For four years, in addition to Miriam's regular duties, she worked tirelessly to identify an appropriate place for the Food Bank to move; worked with the staff, a building oversight committee, and the architects on the design of the facility; and represented the Food Bank during the construction process; and

WHEREAS, Miriam's achievements also include the creation of the Three Rivers Table Program, now in its sixteenth year; The Program has grown from one driver picking up donations from a few local donors and serving a handful of on-site feeding programs, to three drivers picking up donations from over a hundred donors and serving over sixty soup kitchens, shelters, treatment, and after school programs in Allegheny County;
