Proclamation honoring Global Links upon the occasion of the organization's 20th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the quality of life in our region is driven, in part, by our expertise in health care and our commitment to environmental sustainability; and
WHEREAS, since 1989, Global Links - through its material recovery efforts - has taken a leadership role in promoting environmental stewardship by redirecting surplus medical supplies, equipment, and furnishings from our nation's healthcare facilities away from landfills and to our neighbors in need; and
WHEREAS, the spirit of generosity, collaboration, and volunteerism has been instrumental to our success as a region, and the volunteers and staff of Global Links have demonstrated what can be accomplished through community and corporate determination and partnership; and
WHEREAS, our region has been recognized by The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization for its leadership in recovering and repurposing medical materials to support life-saving programs in our hemisphere;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County and on the occasion of Global Links 20th Anniversary, does hereby congratulate Global Links for the organization's accomplishments over the course of its impressive existence. We commend those who have stepped forward to help achieve the vision of Allegheny County as a world-class medical and environmentally responsible community, and we wish these individuals and Global Links continued success well into the future.
