Proclamation honoring the career of Rabbi Stephen E. Steindel.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have religious men and women who graciously lead our citizens into lives of faith; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi Stephen E. Steindel has served as the senior rabbi of Beth Shalom for over 23 years; and
WHEREAS, before serving Beth Shalom, Rabbi was stationed at Beth El Congregation in the south hills for 10 years; here he became the first rabbi ever elected to the board of the United Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi Steindel currently serves on the UJA National Rabbinic Cabinet and the Chancellor's Council of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He also sits on the Board of Community Day and teaches at Quigley Catholic High School; and
WHEREAS, for his unparalleled commitment to bettering our community by faithfully serving it, Rabbi Steindel has instilled merit and goodwill in each of our citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of the County, hereby commends Rabbi Stephen E. Steindel for his steadfast commitment to the Jewish community of Allegheny County. Rabbi has set a prime example of how a citizen of good faith can act as a difference maker in our County, and we commend him for everything he has done for us over the course of his service in the County.
