WHEREAS, one random act of kindness, no matter how small, can make an enormous impact on someone else's life. Kindness can make the world a better place and has a positive impact on any institution. The giving of one’s self in service to another empowers both the giver and the recipient; and
WHEREAS, by knowing, understanding, and using the power of kindness we have the ability to send out a positive ripple that can endure through time. Through acts of kindness, dedication to civility and creating belongingness for all people, we can promote healthy behavior and positive dynamics within our community; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny County Council will join in Caileigh Lynn McDowell Kindness Day to help raise awareness of the value of kindness. Acts of kindness must be extended to one another, regardless of social or economic status, education, gender, origin, religious belief, age, lifestyle or abilities; and
WHEREAS, The Caileigh Lynn McDowell Foundation is dedicated to increasing awareness of kindness in the Pittsburgh region and dedicated to reaffirming the importance of having a positive and supportive community;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Tom Baker, do hereby declare November 13, 2021 to be Caileigh Lynn McDowell Kindness Day in Allegheny County, and I urge all individuals to extend acts of kindness to one another, regardless of social or economic status, education, gender, origin, religious belief, age, lifestyle or abilities.
