Certificate of Recognition honoring the 105th anniversary of the Clairton Public Library.

WHEREAS, public libraries have flourished in Allegheny County over the past century, supplying the citizens of our community with a valuable resource of knowledge and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, in 1904, the Clairton Public Library was founded by a group of Clairton women and C.H. Rich, president of the Clairton School Board Directors; and
WHEREAS, the Clairton Public Library has operated for over a century with the mission of serving as a center that provides informational resources, educational programs, and enjoyment to all citizens of the community; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Clairton Public Library has been supported by individuals who have dedicated their efforts to sustaining the vision of a public center of knowledge that serves the people of Clairton; and
WHEREAS, in November 2009, the Clairton Public Library celebrates its 105th anniversary and the efforts of the citizens who maintain the library for the community;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, honors Clairton Public Library upon the monumental occasion of its 105th anniversary. This long-established institution has been supported by hundreds of committed individuals who have united for the betterment of the community. We commend their devotion, and we hope the library continues to serve Clairton and Allegheny County for many more years to come.
