Proclamation recognizing and honoring Mr. Lamonte Wilson, Fire Chief of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, for his 30 years of dedicated public safety services, protecting both lives and property and commending him for his significant contribution to the citizens of Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhoods and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lamonte Wilson, Fire Chief of the Allegheny County Airport Authority since 1996, has dedicated his life to public safety, protecting both lives and property within the County; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining the Airport Authority Mr. Wilson served for 21 years in a variety of roles working for the City of Pittsburgh Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, as Fire Chief, Mr. Wilson is responsible for the Fire Department at the Pittsburgh International Airport, directing rescue fire fighting and emergency medical services, developing and supervising training programs, creating pre-fire plans, coordinating mutual aid operations, ensuring compliance with fire, rescue and life safety standards for buildings, conducting operational tests and inspections of protection systems'; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson has been awarded numerous certifications from 1986 to 2004, and is an active Member of the Allegheny County Local Emergency Planning Committee, Region 13 Fire & HazMat Committee, Allegheny County Firefighter's Advisory Committee, just to name a few; and
WHEREAS, in 2003, Mr. Wilson was the recipient of Renaissance Publications Black Trailblazers Award, and in 2004, he was inducted into the Heinz History Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and honor Mr. Lamonte Wilson for his 30 years of dedicated public safety services to the residents of Allegheny County. Mr. Wilson's long and distinguished service is des...
