Proclamation commending David A. McCulloch for earning the Bethel Park 2008 Volunteer of the Year award.

WHEREAS, our communities are blessed to have individuals who embody the essence of volunteering and who strive to make a difference; and
WHEREAS, David A. McCulloch is one of those individuals who has given to his community openly and unselfishly and who has served his country in a multitude of ways; and
WHEREAS, David A. McCulloch has been a resident of Bethel Park since 2000, subsequent to his service to our community as a Pittsburgh Police Officer and as a member of the Detective Units, River Rescue, SWAT Team and his role as officer in charge of the bomb squad, all of which were served after an honorable discharge from a distinguished military career. Dave is active member and volunteer at his church, where he also volunteers and serves our community as Commander of the South Hills Detachment 726 of the Marine Corps League, Sr. Vice-Commander of the Bethel Park American Legion Post 760, and member of the Bethel Park Veterans Committee; and
WHEREAS, after serving our nation with pride and distinction as a Corpsman in the United States Navy, where he was attached to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, Dave was a combat veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, and has always shown the drive and determination of decorated Marine; and
WHEREAS, David A McCulloch has made a positive impact in the Bethel Park community with his numerous volunteer projects and his commitment to local causes, including those of the Bethel Park American Legion, the South Hills Marine Corps League and the Bethel Park Veterans Memorial Committee. He has given tirelessly of his time for the betterment of Bethel Park in such projects as the annual Memorial Day Parade, the upgrade of the Veterans Memorial Plaza, and has served on the boards of many fine organizations in a variety of leadership positions;
