Proclamation recognizing D. James Heatherington for 29 years of service to the Regional Chamber Alliance.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have leaders who commit themselves wholeheartedly to serving and representing our region with the utmost dedication and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, for the past 29 years, D. James Heatherington has served the Regional Chamber Alliance, formerly known as the Mon Yough Chamber, for which he will be recognized at a special event to be held on December 2, 2008 at Rock Run Inn; and
WHEREAS, a prominent local businessman, Mr. Heatherington founded the D. James Heatherington Funeral Home in McKeesport in 1962, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2003 and is currently a funeral director with Hunter Funeral Home; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Heatherington's contributions to the Western Pennsylvania region are both boundless and diverse and include his role as Chair of UPMC McKeesport and as a member of the Boards of Directors for UPMC, UPMC McKeesport, McKeesport Hospital Foundation, and the Shenango Presbyterian Senior Housing, Inc., as well as his memberships; and with the Mon-Yough (Chamber) Foundation Board, the Pittsburgh Care Partnership Board, and the McKeesport Healthier Communities Partnership; and
WHEREAS, also a devoted servant to Allegheny County, Mr. Heatherington is the former deputy coroner of the County, a former member and president of the McKeesport City Council, the former secretary/treasurer of the McKeesport Redevelopment Authority, a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport and is also a lifetime member of the Rillton Volunteer Fire Department;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council joins in celebrating D. James Heatherington's 29 years of service with the Regional Chamber Alliance and his multitude of contributions to Allegheny County. You have set a standard of excellence that serves as an inspiration to th...
