This Certificate of Achievement is awarded to Miss Pietra Bruni, a freshman at Seton-LaSalle Catholic High School, for earning first place in the senior biology division of the 69th Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair.  With a project centered around exposing photosynthetic marine plankton to fluorescent light during their “light” and “dark” phases in order to discover the effect that light had on their ability to feed during daylight cycles, Bruni was able to secure her third science fair win in three years.  Additionally, she received the distinguished opportunity to work with one of oceanography's foremost researchers, Dr. Michael Latz at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, California.  You have set a high standard of commitment which the youth of our great County of Allegheny may follow, and which serves as an inspiration to this Council and the citizens of Allegheny County.
