Proclamation honoring Patrick A. Mitchell for retiring and for his lifetime of service to our country and to Allegheny County.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Allegheny County citizens show exemplary dedication to selflessly serving and volunteering to help those in need in our community; and

                     

WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick A. Mitchell of Monroeville, Pennsylvania entered the United States Navy in the summer of 1966 and spent one tour of duty in Vietnam in the VAQ I Squadron supporting United States ground troops; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell was honorably discharged from the Navy as a 2nd Class Petty Officer and almost immediately began working as a maintenance supervisor at the Veterans Affairs Hospital at Highland Drive in Pittsburgh; and

 

WHEREAS, over the course of 39 years - as a worker and as a volunteer -Mr. Mitchell dedicated countless hours to the Highland Drive facility and to our community, displaying his impeccable love for his community and his fellow veterans; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell, who belongs to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6836, has devoted a lifetime of service to his country, to our community, and to the veterans residing in our county; his tireless efforts to better the lives of those around him provide a shining example of a true serviceman;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes the retirement of Mr. Patrick A. Mitchell.  We commend him on his impressive career of service to our country and to our county, and we hope he enjoys his well-deserved retirement.  We hope all look upon Mr. Mitchell's lifetime of service with great pride.
