Proclamation honoring the 90th anniversary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 118.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is privileged to have residing within its borders fraternal organizations that allow war veterans to congregate, build neighborly relationships and offer invaluable community services; and

                     

WHEREAS, in 2009, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 118 of the Borough of Millvale celebrates its 90th anniversary, commemorating its long history of bringing together veterans of the borough; and

 

WHEREAS, consistently promoting a viable community spirit since its inception in 1919, the post's impressive longevity as a fixture of Allegheny County is to be commended; and

 

WHEREAS, the ceremony celebrates the many veterans from the Borough of Millvale who have fought bravely overseas; their valorous efforts and selfless actions are memorialized in the many V.F.W. post's in Allegheny County; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the members of V.F.W. Post 118 have brought an unparalleled generosity, volunteerism, and charity to Allegheny County, an unmatched display of goodwill that has resonated throughout our area;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby honors Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 118 of the Borough of Millvale upon the occasion of its 90th year of existence.  We commend the post for increasing a sense of unity among the veterans of Allegheny County and for consistently helping the community.  We hope the post continues to remain a fixture of our County for many years to come.
