Proclamation recognizing and commending Allegheny County employees Terry Fox and Shawn McGinn for their heroic actions in attending to the needs of strangers who were involved in a serious traffic accident in the vicinity of Round Hill Park

WHEREAS, on September 3, 2004, a serious automobile accident occurred on Simpson Howell Road in Elizabeth Township near Round Hill Park; and
WHEREAS, the occupants of the vehicle were three young people ranging in ages from 10 to 16 years old; and
WHEREAS, these youths were gravely injured and trapped in the wreckage; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny County employees Terry Fox and Shawn McGinn were in the area and immediately and aggressively took action and reacted to a very dangerous situation by coming to the aid of the injured youths; and
WHEREAS, these dedicated employees of Allegheny County, without regard for personal safety, acted in a heroic manner which made the difference between life and death for the youths, and
WHEREAS, this Council is proud to know that Allegheny County has this caliber of employees.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of Allegheny County hereby recognizes and commends Allegheny County employees Terry Fox and Shawn McGinn for their heroic actions in attending to the needs of strangers who were involved in a serious traffic accident in the vicinity of Round Hill Park, and express our gratitude to them for their bravery and distinguished service beyond the call of duty, which shall serve as an inspiration to us all.
