Proclamation recognizing Chief Gene Roach for his 40 years of dedicated service to law enforcement.

     WHEREAS, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” This quote once said by Christopher Reeve, fully embodies the heroic nature of Chief Gene Roach; and

 

      WHEREAS, Chief Roach has dedicated 40 years of service to law enforcement across Allegheny County; and

 

     WHEREAS, in 1981, Chief Roach graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice. A year later, he began his law enforcement career as a full-time officer for the North Fayette Township Police Department; and

 

     WHEREAS, shortly after, Chief Roach joined the Mt. Lebanon Police Department, where he rose through the ranks and departed the force as deputy chief after serving 25 years. During that time, Chief Roach earned a master’s in strategic leadership from Mountain State University; and

 

     WHEREAS, in January 2011, Chief Roach joined the Jefferson Hills Police Department as head of the police department; and

 

     WHEREAS, Chief Roach answered the challenging call of public service and placed his life at risk to secure the safety and protection of his neighbors; and

 

     WHEREAS, Chief Roach’s dedication to the police force and years spent as a dedicated police officer has truly set a high standard of commitment and fervor for the citizens of Allegheny County;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member John Palmiere, do hereby recognize and honor Chief Gene Roach for his 40 years of dedicated service to law enforcement, and we thank him for unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Allegheny County.
