Proclamation recognizing and commending Connie and John McCormick, John Bower, Nora Helfrick and Bethel Park Mayor Clifford Morton for their impact on their community and its citizens in assisting in the creation and administration of the Vial of Life program

WHEREAS, Connie S. McCormick and her husband, John McCormick, have made major contributions to the Bethel Park community by starting the Vial of Life program in 2002 and by dedicating many hours to it since that time; and
WHEREAS, the Vial of Life program allows individuals to record vital medical information and store it in a uniform location in their home for the reference of EMS personnel, family or friends in the event that the individual is incapacitated in a medical emergency; and
WHEREAS, the McCormicks have received the full support of both Bethel Park Mayor Clifford Morton, and the able assistance of John Bower and Nora Helfrick of Tri-community South EMS in their endeavor; and
WHEREAS, the Vial of Life program has become an important tool for EMS personnel to use in gaining vital lifesaving information that allows them to give appropriate treatment to patients who are unable to answer basic questions about their medical history, allergies to medications, or the identity of their doctor;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize Connie and John McCormick, John Bower, Nora Helfrick and Mayor Clifford Morton for their impact on their community and its citizens. Their skill in assisting in the creation and administration of the Vial of Life program has only been surpassed by their devotion to and compassion for the residents of Bethel Park; through their dedication, the citizens of Bethel Park have become safer and better prepared for medical emergencies that may arise. For these achievements in improving the quality of life for all Bethel Park residents, Council bestows its highest praise and extends its sincerest thanks.
