Body

WHEREAS, Mt. Lebanon Fire Department Platoon Chief Grant C. Wilson retired on April 1, 2005, completing a career that spanned over 34 years, a tenure that has been marked with distinction from the day he joined the Department in 1971; and

 

WHEREAS, Platoon Chief Wilson's capabilities and dedication to his community have repeatedly been relied upon and recognized by his colleagues, as shown by his designation as a Master Instructor for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy for over 30 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Platoon Chief Wilson's accomplishments are many and varied, and include making vast improvements in Mt. Lebanon's fire prevention and emergency management functions; and

 

                     WHEREAS, through his exemplary commitment to public safety, Platoon Chief Wilson has served as an inspiration to over a generation of young firefighters, while simultaneously personifying selflessness, commitment, and the highest of professional ideals;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize Platoon Chief Grant C. Wilson for his impact on this community and its citizens; his skill in assisting in the administration of his Department has only been surpassed by his devotion to the residents of Mt. Lebanon.  Through his lifetime of dedication and professionalism, he has improved the lives of countless individuals and families.  For these achievements and the many others throughout his career, Council bestows its highest commendation upon Platoon Chief Wilson and sincerest wishes for happiness on the occasion of his retirement.
