Proclamation recognizing Life's Work of Western Pennsylvania for its dedication to the citizens of Allegheny County and for its impact on this community.

Body

WHEREAS, Life's Work of Western Pennsylvania provides individuals with disabilities or other employment barriers with opportunities to realize their employment potential by securing temporary and permanent positions for them with local companies; and

 

WHEREAS, Life's Work has formed partnerships with various companies in the private sector to provide these opportunities on an ongoing basis; and

 

WHEREAS, Life's Work has had such a partnership with PNC to provide document preparation, microfilming, and commercial loan document purging  services since 1993, an arrangement that has led to 30 individuals being hired as permanent employees by PNC; and

 

WHEREAS, Life's Work is receiving PNC Bank's 2004 Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Supplier Award on June 8, 2005 in recognition of the dedication and exceptional performance of Life's Work employees; and

 

WHEREAS, Life's Work was also one of only four organizations to receive the United States Department of Labor's 2004 Exemplary Public Interest Contribution Award for their service to Southwestern Pennsylvania residents with disabilities;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize Life's Work of Western Pennsylvania for its dedication to the citizens of Allegheny County and for its impact on this community.  Throughout its history, Life's Work has provided an abundance of that most precious of resources for any individual:  hope for the future.  This commitment to the dignity and well-being of Allegheny County's disabled residents is truly worthy of Council's highest commendation, as well as our heartfelt congratulations on the recognition received from both the United States Department of Labor and PNC Bank.
