Proclamation recognizing and commending this year's honorees on the occasion of being honored by the YWCA's 2005 Tribute to Women.

Body

WHEREAS, for each of the last 23 years, the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh has honored local businesswomen for their service to and leadership in the community by holding an annual Tribute to Women; and

                     

                     WHEREAS, the YWCA has established as its first purpose serving the women and teens of Allegheny County by constantly striving to empower women and to eliminate racism and sexism.; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the YWCA has remained responsible to the communities in which it functions, as well as the world community, while recognizing the importance and value of collaboration and the obligation to work with community organizations, businesses, and government; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the Tribute to Women is the premiere event for honoring women whose lives and accomplishments embody the YWCA's mission; and

 

                     WHEREAS, this year's Tribute to Women will honor Barbara A. McNees, Kimberly Tillotson Fleming, Jeanne K. Clark, Georgia Berner, Myrna Zellenitz and Dorothy A. Davis on May 25, 2005;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council recognizes and commends this years honorees on the occasion of being honored by the YWCA's 2005 Tribute to Women.  Allegheny County Council hereby salutes and recognizes the accomplishments of each honoree and expresses its appreciation to them for their past and ongoing contributions to the community, and for their efforts in assisting to improve the overall quality of life of this region.
