An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the disposition of a County-owned light plant to the Homeville Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1, for use during accidents, structure fires, and other incidents, including those in the evening, where an excessive amount of lighting is necessary.

WHEREAS, Part 7, Article 700, ยง 701.05 (C) of the Administrative Code provides that the County may dispose of any County-owned personal property in a manner approved by the County Manager provided that the personal property has been determined by the County's Controller to have a nominal value; and
WHEREAS, the County is the owner of a light plant that is no longer in use by the Allegheny County Public Works Department yet still has a useful life for organizations such as local volunteer fire companies; and
WHEREAS, the Controller has determined that the light plant has only nominal value; and
WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 2k empowers County Council to, by ordinance, lease, convey, vacate or abandon, or permit the use of County land, buildings, or other real or personal property; and
WHEREAS, the County no longer has the need for a light plant and believes it to be in the best interest of the County to convey said property to the Homeville Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1;
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:
SECTION 1.
A. Pursuant to Section 701.05 of the County Administrative Code County Council does hereby authorize the Director of the Department of Public Works, or his designee, to transfer the legal ownership of one (1) light plant to the Homeville Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1, P.O. Box 25, West Mifflin, PA 15132.
B. The County Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to take any and all other action deemed necessary and convenient to carry out the purposes of this Ordinance.
