Proclamation honoring Turtle Creek Mayor Adam Forgie and David Sabina for their acts of bravery on December 4, 2006.

 

Body

WHEREAS, on the afternoon of December 4, 2006, teacher David Sabina demonstrated an act of true bravery at Woodland Hills East Junior High School; and

                     

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Sabina was informed by a student that an individual had pulled out a gun in the school's parking lot; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Sabina immediately notified fellow teachers of the incident and then rushed out to the parking lot and attempted to encourage the individual to step away from the bus; and

 

                     WHEREAS, when the individual refused to move away, Mr. Sabina and his colleague, Mayor Adam Forgie, proceeded to evacuate the students to a safer area; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Sabina gathered the students on a nearby playground property, where he knew they would be safe;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the bravery shown by Mr. David Sabina on December 4, 2006 exemplified his true concern for the students of Woodland Hills East Junior High School and the citizens of Turtle Creek.  The Allegheny County Council wishes to express its utmost admiration of Mr. Sabina and thanks him for his dedication to the citizens of our great County.
