Proclamation honoring the Upper St. Clair Class of 1973 and declaring July 26, 2008 "Upper St. Clair High School Class of '73 Day" in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, the Upper St. Clair Class of 1973 will celebrate its 35th anniversary on July 26, 2008; and
WHEREAS, graduates from all walks of life will converge on the Keystone Belle of the Gateway Clipper Fleet to celebrate the event, which coincides with Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, throughout the past 35 years, the Class of 1973 has received numerous recognitions for its members' many accomplishments, including those of University of Iowa Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz and author William Poundstone, who was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize; and
WHEREAS, other notable accomplishments of the Class of 1973 include those of Kay McArdle, now a member of New Orleans society who gave tirelessly in relief efforts to rebuild the city in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and Sean McDowell of WDVE Radio, the best DJ on the Pittsburgh airwaves; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council joins with the Upper St. Clair High School Class of 1973 in celebrating its 35th anniversary. We thank all those involved in organizing the event for providing the graduates of Upper St. Clair with the opportunity to relive their precious memories with their friends and families and to celebrate the many contributions that they have given to our county, our country, and the world. Furthermore, we hereby declare Saturday, July 26, 2008 “Upper St. Clair Class of 1973 Day” in Allegheny County.
