Proclamation celebrating the Millvale High School Grand Reunion.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Millvale High School 6th Grand Reunion will be held on July 12, 2008 and will host an expected 450 Millvale High School graduates; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Millvale High School opened in February 1926 and was closed in 1971 when the school merged with Shaler High School; and

 

                     WHEREAS, between 1928 and 1971, approximately 2, 687 students graduated from Millvale High School; and

                     

WHEREAS, seeing a need to reunite graduates from throughout Millvale High School's history, the First Grand Reunion, chaired by Ernie Sesti (Class of 1938) and Alberta Vecenie (Class of 1944), was held in 1998, and hosted 700 attendees; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the success of the First Grand Reunion, the organizers decided to hold reunions every two years thereafter; and

 

WHEREAS, subsequent reunions were chaired by Ernie Sesti (Class of 1938), John Dilmore (1948) and Robert Krecek, Jr. (Class of 1957); and

 

WHEREAS, this year's event, co-chaired by John Dilmore (Class of 1948) and Joanne Herbe (Class of 1957), will feature an opening ceremony, dancing, catered dining, recognition of three members of the Class of 1935 (the oldest class represented at the reunion), door prizes, gift bags, and a raffle;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council joins with the graduates of Millvale High School in celebrating their 6th Grand Reunion.  We thank all those involved in organizing the event for providing the graduates of Millvale High School with the chance to relieve their precious memories with their friends and families, and for continuing to recognize the important role that Millvale High School played in our community's history.
