Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Achievement to Mr. George Smith for being named the 2013 Daily News Coach of the Year. After a three year absence, Coach Smith returned to McKeesport's storied program, and the football team responded to his return with a 10-1 record, pushing Coach Smith over 200 career victories and helping him earn the 2013 Daily News Coach of the Year honors. Coach Smith implemented a "kindness" law: focus on your mission and play the game with integrity and class. The Tigers' responded well to this approach and with Coach Smith's beneficial guidance and influence the team won the WPIAL Class AAAA playoff opener before its quarterfinal loss. Your indelible contributions to Allegheny County's long legacy of sports champions are to be commended. On behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, we join with you in celebration of your notable achievement as 2013 Daily News Coach of the Year.
