Proclamation congratulating St. Anne Church upon the occasion of its 125th anniversary and St. Anne School upon the occasion of its 120th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the original St. Anne Parish was one of the earliest congregations of any denomination in the South Hills of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1889, St. Anne Parish was formed from German Catholic farming families. The original church building, dedicated in 1892, served the parish for 70 years, until the current church building was completed in 1962; and

WHEREAS, St. Anne Parish is a strong, vibrant part of the South Hills community of faith, as well as the broader Diocese of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, many generations of families and individuals have worshipped at St. Anne Church, and in 2014 the Parish will celebrate its 125th anniversary;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, does hereby congratulate St. Anne Parish upon reaching this historic milestone and its terrific history in our County, and we hope the congregation continues to instill faith in community members for many years to come.



WHEREAS, founded in 1894, Saint Anne School is a faith community grounded in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, in 2014, St. Anne School will celebrate 120 years of service in a faith-filled environment with a strong academic program; and

WHEREAS, St. Anne School offers preschool for 3 and 4 year olds, a full day kindergarten, and grades 1 through 8 elementary. The school offers individualized attention to each student with a pupil-to-teacher ratio of approximately 16:1, and an average class size of 22 students; and

WHEREAS, St. Anne School holds NCEA-Middle State Accreditation-Middle School Association, with State and Diocesan Certified faculty;
