An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the acceptance on behalf of the County of used desks, conference tables, file cabinets, work stations, movable file storage systems, other office furniture and related personal property for use in the Office of the Public Defender, the County Solicitor's Office and the Department of Court Records that has been offered by various law firms to the County pursuant to a donation program sponsored by the Allegheny County Bar Association.
Whereas, the Allegheny County Bar Association has solicited law firms to determine their willingness to donate used desks, conference tables, file cabinets, work stations, movable file storage systems, other office furniture and related personal property, hereinafter collectively referred to as “Surplus Furniture,” to the County for use in the Office of the Public Defender, the County Solicitor's Office and the Department of Court Records; and
Whereas, several law firms have responded to the Bar Association’s solicitation and have offered to donate Surplus Furniture to the County for use in the Office of the Public Defender, the County Solicitor's Office and the Department of Court Records; and
Whereas, Article IV Section 2(j) of the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter vests County’s Council with the power to accept by ordinance grants, gifts or donations of personal property on behalf of the County.
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:
SECTION 1. Incorporation of the Preamble.
The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.
Section 2. Acceptance of Donations of Surplus Furniture.
