Proclamation honoring Judge Kim. D. Eaton for receiving Amen Corner's James R. McGregor Award.

WHEREAS, since January 3, 2000, the Honorable Kim D. Eaton has dutifully and honorably served as a Judge in the Adult Family Division on the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas; and
WHEREAS, Judge Eaton attended Penn State University and graduated in 1978 with a B.S. in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. At the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor degree, she was president of the Class of 1981 and the commencement speaker; and
WHEREAS, prior to her election, Judge Eaton was a shareholder in the firm of Rose, Schmidt, Hasley & DiSalle, PC, where she was the head of the firm's matrimonial section; and
WHEREAS, during her career as a lawyer, Judge Eaton served as Chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Bench-Bar Committee (and recipient of the Olbum Award) and the Chair of the Family Law Section's Public Service Committee, where she co-founded the Pro Se Motions Court program, assisting low-income parties through the court system; and
WHEREAS, Judge Eaton received the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Pro Bono Award for outstanding contributions to Pro Bono activities and was named Woman of the Year, receiving the Marjorie Matson Award from the Pitt Law Women's Association. In 2010, she received the Allegheny County Bar Association Family Law Section's Exemplary Service Award. Judge Eaton serves on the Board of Governors for the Allegheny County Bar Association. She is Master in the Matrimonial Inns of Court and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Parental Stress Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby commend the Honorable Kim D. Eaton for receiving the James R. McGregor Award from Amen Corner during the group's 54th Annual Judicial Reception.
